Cable car & summit permits

A cable car ticket takes you to the upper station. It does not automatically authorise a walk to Teide’s summit or along other regulated trails.

What matters for this visit

Upper station versus summit

The selected cable car and transfer tour reaches La Rambleta at 3,555 metres when the cable car operates. The final route to the crater is a separate hiking decision. Tenerife ON distinguishes the PNT 10 Telesforo Bravo permit from permits for other regulated trails. Do not buy a sightseeing ticket assuming it includes the summit. None of the ten selected products is presented here as a guided summit package.

Check the route you actually intend to walk

Use Tenerife ON to check the exact trail, permit, opening status and required equipment. PNT 07, PNT 09, PNT 23 and PNT 28 have their own regulated access arrangements. An ascent-only cable car ticket is not a workaround for a required walking permit. Current fees and availability should be checked in the official booking flow rather than assumed to be free from older guides.

Clothing and suitability

Volcano Teide lists restrictions for young children, pregnancy and certain health or mobility conditions. Read those rules before purchasing. The operator also publishes mandatory trail equipment: its October 2026 notice lists long trousers, a warm fleece or equivalent and hiking boots for the specified high-altitude trails. A sunny resort forecast is not enough preparation for the upper station.

What if the cable car closes?

Wind can stop the cable car without cancelling the entire selected coach excursion. The marketplace listing states that the tour can continue on an alternative route with the cable car portion refunded. Check your selected product’s terms; the rules for a standalone cable car ticket may differ. Leave flexibility if the ascent is the main purpose of your visit.

Questions before you book

Does a tour include the summit?

None of these selected products is sold here as a summit hike. The cable car reaches the upper station at 3,555 metres; the crater trail requires separate authorisation. Read our cable car and permits guide.

Is hotel pickup included?

It depends on the product and option. Some listings offer selected southern pickup, the cable car tour offers northern and southern collection, and others require self-arrival. Check the exact point before paying.

What should I wear?

Bring warm layers and comfortable closed footwear. High-altitude trails and vehicle activities have specific footwear, clothing or document requirements, listed on the individual tour page.

Are the prices live quotes?

No. These are verified USD listing-wide minimums checked on 6 November 2026. Select your date, option and party size with GetYourGuide for the current total.

Who takes my booking?

GetYourGuide handles the booking, and the named activity provider operates the excursion. Teide National Park Tours is an independent comparison publisher. We may earn commission from qualifying bookings.
